Missoula, Montana-The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) announced today that it has selected Blue Heron Communications to supplement its public- and press-relations efforts.
Blue Heron Communications will be primarily responsible for reporting and distributing RMEF conservation news, as well as serving as a first-line media contact.
The communications firm, based in Norman, Okla., has specialized for more than 20 years in hunting, fishing and conservation. Current clients include Smith & Wesson, Pure Fishing, Ranger Boats, Stratos Boats, National Shooting Sports Foundation, ThermoLogic, National Hunting & Fishing Day and others.
In 1984, four hunters from Troy, Mont., founded RMEF to ensure the future of elk, other wildlife and their habitat. The organization now includes more than 550 chapters, 10,000 volunteers and 150,000 members. Supporters have helped RMEF protect or enhance nearly 5 million acres, open 492,000 acres for public hunting, restore elk populations to parts of their former range, and complete more than 5,400 conservation projects.
