treasureton scare
#1
I just had a disturbing thing happen to me at Treasureton and I want to pass the word on to as many as I can. I was walking from a hole I was fishing in to another spot were some friends were and I fell through a large hole in the ice. I went to my waste with one leg and hurt my knee on the other leg. My friends came over and helped me out.

We got a shovel and scooped out the slush and discovered a 24" perfectly round hole someone had made. I do not know how it was made but it looks like some kind of auger made it.

If I had been a child I would of went all the way in because it hadn't froze over and was just covered in slush and snow.

I don't know if there are any more of them but if you plan on fishing there soon be careful and watch you kids. The hole I fell in was about 15 yard East of the willows by the dam on the road side. Its about 15 yards from the bank and the water is about 17 feet deep.

Needless to say It ruined a good day on the ice. If anyone has an idea who is doing this please remind them of the danger and the legallity of it.

Thanks for the heads up. There is a reason for the size restrictions on holes. It was probably just someone messing around and they did not realize the danger.

Thanks for the warning. Same think happened to a young girl at Weston last winter. She was able to get out ok but I'm sure it ruined her day as well as those she was fishing with. If I remember correctly the hole at Weston was a 4'X4' square hole. Hopefully it is just someone that doesn't know any better instead of someone who just doesn't care.

Just got back from Treasureton and found another of the large holes. Someone has a 18" auger that they are using to cut holes. I have never seen one that big. It looks like we took one of our line trucks and bored it. I know its augered because this one goes in on a angle. It's a hundred yards father East than the first one I fell in.

My friend was catching fish and he told me to come over and fish the hole right behind him. He took his shovel out and cleaned it out and discovered how large it was. Kids tracks several feet away.

Anyway If any one knows who has this auger and is using it please let them know that it's not cool. THE FISH ARE NOT THAT BIG!

Well enough bitching, fishing was great and I caught 8 in the 2 hours I was there.
