Provo middle section 2/27
#1
Wanted to try something besides ice fishing yesterday, so I broke out the fly fishing gear and went to the middle sec. of the Provo river. The snow is real deep, didn't measure it but I think at least two feet or more. I started for the river and found I could walk on top of the crusted snow, travel was quite easy over the snow. I caught and released two nice browns,(15" & 16") fished on up the river to my favorite White fish hole, and caught six fish. I took four home for the smoker. Hares ear & Prince nymphs worked best.
Then I started back to the parking lot to go home, boy it was a different story now, the warm sun had softend the snow and I couldn't stay on top. Only about 4 out of 5 steps on top then break thru the crust. Walked in the edge of the river most of the way but sometimes had to get where th water was too deep. Took almost an hour to get back to the truck, one tired old man! I think I will wait for the snow to melt befor I try that again![unsure]
