Fluorocarbon is for use as a leader material only. DO NOT spool your reel up with it. Depending on what you're fishing for, the fluorocarbon may not present enough of an advantage to justify the extra cost. I use fluorocarbon leader, but only for certain species that tend to be line shy like trout or spooky spanish mackerel. Many times, clear monophiliment is more than enough. Remember, the smaller diameter you can get away with, the better.
Fluorocarbon has very bad memory, which is why it is not intended for use as a fishing reels main line. If you want a quality mono main line, I like Ande fishing line. Seagar makes the finest Fluorocarbon leader on the market, and power pro is one of the better Braid lines. That should get you started. You can attached the leader right to your main line, or use a swivel (which is better when possible) to attach the leader to the main line. Some times a swivel will not work if the leader has to be wound up on the reel, but if a swivel can be used, it's best as it helps to prevent line twist. [cool] [signature] |
