bought my first rod/reel, how did i do?

i have always fished streams and creeks as a child. now that i am 30 i am getting back into fishing, but really enjoy the few times i went on big charters with like 20-40 people in the bay and recently am scheduled to go striper fishing on april 24th in the chesapeake bay.

well anyways i bought my first offshore rod/reel and just wondering how i did and what others may have suggested...

i purchased a 10ft penn captiva cv102h rod with penn captiva cv8000 reel, got 20lb berkley trilene big game line put on it.

curious to know if i can use this reel on a shorter rod for fishing on those big charters? mostly bottom fishing and some wreck fishing? could it be used for striper with a different rod also?

They make stand up spinning rods, so I would say yes to putting your reel on a different rod. [cool]
