Lake Mead Saturday

Saturday,10/11/08- Hit the water early (5:30am). Forecast calls for high winds and lower temps. Small craft warning posted. No wonder we were the only boat at the ramp. The run to the fishing grounds was in the dark and against the wind.

From whats left of Las Vegas Wash looking east. Cool, windy, sunrise. We were the only boat around. Searched for shad in several back coves. Nothing. When the sun came up stripers started boiling near the shore on the Gov't Wash side.

Birds show interest in a cove. In we go. Birds took us to fish several times today.

Bent rod in the cove. Another striper hits the deck.

Back out in the channel we start jigging. Picked up several more.

About 10:00 all top water action and bird action seemed to settle down. We settle in at anchor and started soaking cut bait. Three stripers came to bait.

Ended up with fourteen stripers and a lake to ourselves. Off the water by noon. What a great day on the water.

Very nice BaySport! Glad to hear the stripers are still active on top. What a fluke, to have a saturday on the lake all to yourself! Hey, whats that little jig you were catching them on?

[cool]Hey BaySport, I think I saw you on sat a.m. I was going to fish south of 33 hole but saw the wind and water from the parking lot and thought better of it since it would have blown me and my floattube to arizona! Way to go on the sripers. I went out today(sunday) but still have to upload pics. Will post later.
