Glendale Reservoir
#1
We hit the ice around 9 AM and we were pulling fish out by 9:30[sly]! My daughters caught the first 4 fish within 15 minutes. Fishing stayed consistent throughout the morning. By noon we had landed just over 40 bows. We had about 30min without a bite and a large school came through....we ended up with 10 poles bouncing with fish on all of them [Image: surprised.gif][Image: yell.gif][Image: happy.gif]! We were all laughing at ourselves trying to land fish. My friend and his boys were already talking about "next time" we go. All shades of pink were the ticket...some tipped with night crawler and others without. Surprised we didn't touch any pan fish or bass? We left around 2:30pm and between the 6 of us we landed over 50 rainbows-what a day! Smallest 12 " to largest-caught by 9yr old boy-was18"-we lost 2 other 18"ers too. I'll try and remember to post a couple of pics tomorrow. Fishing close to the furthest north parking lot (you have to walk to it due to it not being plowed). Happy New Year to All!!!

I guess it depends where you're coming from....all the main roads were totally clear of snow/ice-dry pavement. Glendale is only 5 miles outside of Preston....so basically it's pavement all the way from my house to the reservoir so it takes at least 2hrs from Idaho Falls to Glendale and about 1 1/2 hrs to Chesterfield-due to the last 20 miles of ice covered roads. Hope this helps.

Nice report! I fished there 1-1-09, and only iced about 15 fish from 8 to 1pm. Not a bad day by any means, though. I must have fished near the same area as you did. I did land 3 perch about nine inches, that was a bonus. Did you get any perch? I heard the perch are better further up the res.

yea-you still had a great day! No perch...I was a little disappointed about that. I'll have to try moving further up to see if I can find a few. Last yr we found some on the north side of the reservoir almost directly across from the boat dock.

Great report ironrod--glad your daughters caught a lot of fish. It sounds like Glendale is having quite the season.

A friend and I hit Glendale on the third for a few hours. We caught lots of bows, but they were all less than 12 inches. We were by the boat dock where the water runs into the lake and the water is open. Must be the nursery! Still alot of fun!

My brother and I went out this morning, pretty close to the same spot I'm guessing. Your day was faster fishing and I'll bet it was a heck of alot warmer too. We caught two small rainbows, one bass about 2.5 pounds[cool], which is quite rare, and one good rainbow. Check out the pic. It's my biggest Glendale 'bow to date. See ya on the ice.

That is a nice fish I never would have imagined Glendale would have rainbows that big in it.
