I was wondering if anybody has ever used a automatic hook-setter. What it is, is a fishing rod holder that will hook the fish when you get a bite. It is used when bait fishing from shore.
My father and I invented a rod holder that will hook fish for you. It is real cool. I have heard there were rod holders like this but I have never had seen one, just the one we invented. If there is, could you please let me know the name and how they work.
I just want to know if there is a market for something like this.
Thanks

Does it reel the fish in and take the hook out too? I am looking for an automatic fish filleter. I get sick of seeing people put on a 4 lb sinker and 3 hooks huck the thing in the water and put it in a pole holder and when they do get a fish there is no fight because unless it is a 10 pounder it can't move the sinker. Then they just drag it in. Sad. No sport what so ever.

Automatic hook-setters are used to set the hook. Not reel it in. There are a lot of people that like to use hook-setters. I think there are people out there that dont like starring at there fishing pole or holding it for long periods of time like you. People that use these are just as good as you. Get off your high horse and come to reality. Dont judge.

Well Gamehunter,
Now that I am off my high horse and back on the ground. An automatic hook setter takes away from fishing. Casting your line into the water and putting it in a pole holder waiting for your fish to get hooked for you is not fishing. It's reeling in a fish. I am just saying it takes away from the whole experience of feeling the bite and setting the hook and reeling in your fish. That's all.

i got a homemade one for the salmon becouse they hit it hard then let go before you can get to the rod..i used a heavy duty door spring and a door latchand a tube that pivots on a bolt..it works..i guess i dont need to try to get a patent on it if somebody else is already producing it..
