It was a great day to be out there today! I met some guys from Cleveland, Mike and his father-in-law and tried to get them on some crappie. They caught a few off my brushpile but I wanted to show them a spot that had worked for me last week. I hopped in my boat and when I got to the spot there was a guy and his wife fishing in the area and so we waited until they moved off. Later I found out that it was Tyler Ware and his wife that were on the spot. We fished there for a while and only had a few fish off the spot. I had called DK to see if he wanted to fish for a short while, earlier, but had to leave a message. He called to say that he would come over to the house and I could pick him up there. I went and picked him up about 20 minutes later. We caught a few more fish but he had heard that a good friend's son had gotten a jig in the tip of his finger and I told them that I could try to get it out for them. We got a call back and met them at the house for removal. DK and I took a few casts at my brushpile and caught quite a few, including a really big white crappie by DK. I think that we caught 3 keepers there. We then went back to the original spot that I had planned to fish . We caught some right up next to and over a brushpile but most of the fish came from the deeper water out in front of the pile letting the bait fall straight down and shaking the bait every three to four seconds. Most of the hits came after the first or second group of shakes but some came much deeper. The shallowest fish came on a 4 count above the brush. We ended up with 10 keepers and at least 3 times that many non-keepers. The strangest part came on our last casts. The most interesting part of the trip came on our last casts. We hadn't had a hit for about 10 minutes and there was little light left and so we both committed to one last cast. DK cast first and I cast a few seconds later and amazingly both of us hooked and landed keepers. I don't think that I have ever caught a fish on my last cast, especially when I had announced that it would be my last cast.

The water temp back in the mid portion of WT was 54 degrees. It was great to meet TW's wife and see them out on the lake. It was also great to meet Mike and his father-in-law out there. Hopefully we'll all be out there again soon.
