For the second year in a row, I spent opening day of Alabama turkey season at the Nick. I put in below the dam at daylight, made 7 or 8 drifts in hopes of a striper, but came up empty-handed. I decided to tie up at the end of the wall, kept trying the old-faithful buck-tail with a glow-shad, but nothing. Finally, I hooked up with a decent white bass. "Well", I says to myself, "it's got fillets on it", so I switched to a medium weight spinning rod and a smaller jig, and had a ball. I started drifting again, but ended up going back to the wall. A fellow CFF'er tied up there after I left, and he was wearing the spots out, and he was pitching whites in my boat whenever I got close enough. Sorry, dude, but I can't remember your user-name, but thanks for the fish, anyway. Ended up bringing home 15 HUGE whites and 4 fat spots. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the 5 big drum that I hooked up on. Lots of fun on medium weight tackle.
