Took the whole family out today to enjoy the weather and try to catch some bass, crappie, or anything that would bite. Decided to put the boat in next to Anchor Inn Tackle Store near Hale Town and fish some areas where I have caught fish this time of year in the past.

Started out fishing jigs with plastic trailors on points that were 12 - 15 deep and did not have the first bite.

We then decided to try some shallow water areas. I was burning a 1/2 ounce Red rattletrap, and Hannah was trailing a shiner 5 feet under a bobber behind the boat as we trolled along. It wasn't long before a keeper crappie latched on to her minnow. I wasn't having any results on the Red rattletrap and decided to put it down and change to a 1/2 ounce Chrome&Blue rattletrap and landed a nice chunky keeper size largemouth on the 1st cast in about 8 feet of water. Not long after that Hannah landed a beautiful 13" crappie. We caught a couple more fish and decided to move out and try some different areas.

Ended up not doing any good any where else and decided to head back to where we found a few fish earlier and finish the day there.

The final tally was 5 largemouth with only 1 being better than 15", 4 crappie - 3 of which were keepers, and a yellow bass. And my 7 year old daughter caught a lot of minnows out of the minnow bucket and our dog ate 1 of them.

All fish were caught in 6 - 9 feet of water and where the grass was starting to grow.

All in all we had a great time but I was hoping to do better on quantity and quality of fish. Maybe next time.
