my dad just bought a boat and wants to go out fishing on lake mead but is not familiar with any place on the lake. besides fishing from shore at boulder harbour. Any good place to fish from a boat if he launches from boulder harbour?

Generally speaking,if you find the fleet you will find the fish. Most fishing in the lower basin is done along the shorelines and coves in Las Vegas Bay to Las Vegas Wash. A wide area!
A great source of information is past posts. This site is pretty good for researching what anglers have done on Lake Mead in the past.
Good luck,

If he is new to boating I would head up to Echo bay. Only because there are not alot of other boats coming and going at the launch. I know my first time out never having a boat It took a bit of time getting the boat out of the water. Made some people mad, finally a guy came over and said "first time" I said yeah, he spent a few minutes helping me and all was good. You can go north or south from the launch and get into some good fishing. If he is a pro with the boat then in town is good too.
