Today is Hal's off day, so we went crappie fishing. I gave him his choice whether to crappie fish, red breast fish, spot fish or whatever and he wanted to catch crappie. Catch is what we did. Best day for numbers of crappie in one day for me. We landed 123 crappie between 8:20 and 2:15 pm. About 70% of these fish came off bluffs or bluff like structures. They were stacked deep and lure color specific. Well over 1/2 of these fish were nice keepers with several over 13" long. No TARPs today, but close. Hal said that he wanted to catch 110 fish today and we didn't disappoint him at all. I was originally scheduled to take Biofisher today to crappie fish, but he had to back out yesterday. I know that he is going to hate it when he reads this report. Water temp was 70 degrees and 43,800 cfs was the water flow. A lot of trash/pollen/weeds/sticks/ etc. floating on the water near the edges of the bluffs making it sort of difficult to fish. We just cast to an open spot near the bluff and let the jig fall. Most of the fish came from 18 feet or deeper.<br /><br />All fish were released to grow even bigger. We also caught 7 trashy green fish. Two of them around 3 lbs or bigger, a couple around 2 lbs and 3 smaller bass. Two yellow bass, 3 bluegills, and 1 channel cat snagged in the tail that I didn't think I was ever going to land. What a day and it is a holiday weekend. My boat won't see the water again until Tuesday probably. We rode several waves today as the cruisers were out warming up for the weekend. Water chiggers are firing up too.<br /><br />We saw EricM and DRC and buddy catfishing. Eric was in his boat alone and DRC was tailing him around the boils. emoBig I don't know who was trying to get pointers from who. Daniel had a nice 14" black crappie. <br /><br />I forgot to take the camera today, but Hal gave me a counter today and we put it to good use. I am including a pic of the 1/16 oz jighead with the bg shad that was so hot today and the counter. Have fun this weekend all you CFFers who dare to get on the water.
