Myself and two friends fished with Guide Jim Looney of Brownlee Reservoir Charters. We were going to fish Brownlee but the larger bass had just not shown up yet....Brownlee will turn on anyday now.
We went to Oxbow and Jim put us on some very LARGE Smallies. This photo is yours truly with a 20" Biggie. We caught most of our fish on dropshots using robo worms in a green/brown color. We also caught several fish later in the afternoon on Flukes and Wacky Worms. Jim is a great guide and will fish anywhere in Hells Canyon for anything you want to fish for.
You can contact him at 208-257-3703.
He also rents boats. www.brownleereservoirfishing.com
We also caught a nice mess of crappie and had a fish fry.

Hey Ron, I saw you down there on the 19th by the spillway But I didn't know it was you in that Charter boat. My son and I were fishing just across from you on the corner in my son's Triton (white with red stripping.)
We caught some nice fish there too. On the weekend, 16th and 17th, we moved our tourney from Hells Cyn to Oxbow. Hells Cyn sucked so we decided to do a paper tourney on Oxbow. I managed to find the honey hole and won both days and my partner was second. For 5 fish limit on each day I caught 13.76 pounds on Sat and 15.13 pounds on Sun. My big fish on Sat was 18 and half inches (3.63 pounds) and on Sun was 19 and a quarter inches (4.06 pounds.) We used a ghost minnow rattletrap and watermelon green flukes.
That 20 incher you caught would calculate out to 4.63 pounds. Definitely a nice smallie.
Here's some pics of our big ones. I didn't realize my camo jacket would hide my big fish. LOL

It was 18 and a half inches which calculates out to 3.63 pounds. She was beating me at that time when I got lucky and caught my 4.06. I think I heard her say something about kicking me out of the boat. [laugh]

Nice going Bob. I'm sorry we did not get together up there. Let's go fishing together any place you like and do it soon. Just send me an email and let me know. Maybe Lowell or CJ for the day. I buy the gas and lunch.

just judging by the pics i would of guessed hers was bigger. But the camera was closer to her and looks like she is holding the fish out a bit. Also no offense but the women always make a fish look better.

Thanks for the report. Do you have any pics of your trip. What patterns were you using at this time of year?
