Woke up early this morning and decided to go ahead and go to the lake. I had had no intention of going that early but I could not go back to sleep. Got there about 4:30 A.M., launched the boat, messed around a little bit, finally moved out and hit my first point. It was still black a cole so I put on a 10inch Mag II black worm t-rigged. I knew the point well and knew there were rocks there about 12 foot deep with deep water close by. I made one cast, felt the rocks, moved it down the rocks bouncing as it went. It went about 6 feet on that first cast and I felt a hard, THUMP!, rod loaded up, I set the hook and the line took off. Pealed a little drag, came up and made a big splash. I could not see it hardly at all but I knew it was a good one. Now, if this had been Friday at the ratman or saturday at the dogfight, I am sure it would have come off. emoRolleyes But no, this is by myself, no one around, and it really doesn't matter. After a brief tussle she just rolled over to the boat, I lipped her in and she weighed 5 lbs and 11 ozes. emoDoh WHERE WAS THIS FISH WHEN I NEEDED HER! First cast!!!!! emoDoh I was glad to have it in the boat but man I must be snake bit this year. I think God was laughing at me.

Managed a couple more including another keeper just over 2 lbs on the worm. The light started to increase and I broke out a spook. For the next 45 minutes the top water bite was on. I boated another keeper about 2.5 lbs and several slicks. I also had another big fish on but this one came off. It did not fight like a bass and I never saw it so I am not sure it was.

Went up into the wolf next but it was dead for me today so I headed back to the lake. Gator was at the wolf ramp waiting for me to pick him up so he got with me at that point. We headed out into the main lake and started fishing long flats with slight drops in about 13 to 16 feet. We had a blast. The bass were there in numbers but not too much size. We boated about 20 more and had a 3.25 and a 2.5 as well as another 2 lber. All those were either caught on a C-rig or a T-rig. We left at 11:30. Not a bad morning. emoThumbsup Best five about 16 lbs, best 3 at 11 to 11.5 lbs. Water temp was 73, depth was 10 to 16 feet. All out on the main lake. Not a bad morning to be out and a great little morning outing. emoDance

Thanks for holding down the back of the boat, Gator.

C-ya on the water. emoAngler Jmax
