6-2 out of Poplar Springs Ramp.
We went up Loudon to a wide flat point close to one of Carl Gruffeys christmas tree plantations to get our feet wet and see what was happening. Tried topwater and some cranks on our way across the point. No luck .
Decided to go back and check out Carls work . Dave caught one just keeper on Punkin/Chartrues worm in some laydown s before we got there. Couldn`t get anything out of Carls work but should be really good when the needles rot off. Nice work Carl emoThumbsup
Worked our way around the pocket behind the point with another short or two. Got back out to the point and a boat from the big TX at the Canal was way out off the end of the point so we set up to just fish the deep water right at the side of the point. We started catching short fish fairly regular and in a short length of the point. The guy out on the end of the point was catching and measuring and throwing back too. He left after a while but we were still getting bit regular so we stayed put an thought surely we`d get a better fish or two sooner or later. Started out catching them on worm and Lizard and switched to Jigs and paca craws trying for a bigger fish. Finally managed to get 5 just keepers and I mean just barely 14" with one 15+. Caught fish there for about 3 hours and for a while was catching or getting a bite almost every cast. We were sitting in 30 and casting to 10 and catching them out to 20+. Dave was measuring one of the shorts snd I heard a splash and he said" 14.".....I said "we keep 14 s you know "emoBang
Finally moved down to some docks when the water began to churn with chiggers and Wave boats. Managed to get one more keeper on a SB in about 2 foot of water and caught some some more shorts.
Surprise Surprise we wound up second with six weighing a whopping 7.4.. Winner had 10+ and caught them way up Loudon.
