striperchase, Hiawassee (B&B dogfight), Bass, 6/1/09, wife
#1
Well the wife and I ventured out for another dogfight out of B&B and we had high hopes. We ran up river to some docks and shallow grass. I cut the main motor and dropped in the trolling motor and tried to move in for a cast and nothing, no power to the trolling motor but my fish finder was working. So I went back to check the fuse and sure enough it had blown or should I say melted. It is an inline fuse with a 20amp barrel style fuse and the ends had actually bubbled up. I put another fuse in and when I hooked it up and tried againg still nothing the fuse blew again. Two fuses in one minute it wasn't looking good. I told my wife to get the paddle that she would be my trolling motor and she just looked at me like I should tie a rope to my belt and go swimming and pull her around. Anyways put yet another fuse in and hooked it up and this time it was fine. I didn't blow another fuse the rest of the night. Not sure what the problem was but it seamed to be fixed. I started skipping a bama bug trick worm under docks with no bites but in between two docks I saw some shad being pushed to the surface in about two foot of water and threw my weightless trick worm out to them and started walking it back to the boat when it got slammed. The bass probably went close to 3 lbs and when she came out of the water to wave at me she threw the worm back to the boat. I cranked in and reset my worm and threw back out close to the same area. I felt the line get heavy and set the hook and got this one to the boat but it only measured 14". I thought I had them figured out and stuck with this pattern to no avail. I only caught one more fish and it was short also. Moved up river and threw a white and red buzz bait and caught two more shorts. My wife also caught one fish on a bill lewis bleading bait rattle trap that wouldn't measure either. We didn't stay for weigh in we headed home to relieve nanna and put the kids to bed. All and all another great fishing trip with my wife, maybe next week we will be able to weigh in some fish. Congrats to the winners. Sorry no pics I kept thinking I would take pics of the bigger fish but they wouldn't cooperate.
