After getting a new boat last week, I have been on the water 5 of the last 8 days....I have the worlds best wife, she is happy for me and does not begrudge me my outdoor time - I am really blessed.

The last 3 trips (all eve trips) have been some of my better ones lately - we have been finding a good number of bass in 2-4' of water, and catching them on a variety of baits til dark. Senkos in grn/white and bldg shad, buzzbaits, 9" worms and lizards, and rattle traps. Nothing really big, but a lot of action....each eve we would catch a couple around 3 lbs and 15-19 others.

All fish came from or very close to vegetation

Last eve my father was with me, so before we hit the bass in the shallow water, we hit the crappie for an hour and a half. They were deep - but they were there and hungry. We caught 32 crappie, 6 little white bass, 1 blue cat and 2 bluegill. 17 of the crappie were keepers, we took 10 home to split between us. This was the first time ever that I did not catch a spot fishing for crappies on vertical structure - very odd. All crappie on 1/16 head, a variety of soft plastics and home-made hair jigs, colors were all shades of blue/silver/chart.

Last nights highlight was the 13 jet skis that decided to hold a series of sprint races approx 100 yards from our boat - the whole lake out there and they pick my bluffs for a half hours entertainment - GEEZ!!!

All in all I spent several good evenings on the water with good friends and family - have managed to dodge most of the rain - and enjoyed some beautiful sunsets on the water.
