Well .... duh! .... where are the bigguns???? emoScratch

Kaizer and I hung back a little on the blast off not wanting to get in anyone's way .... headed to our first spot and caught 2 fish on the first 2 throws on a crankbait (bad sign emoBang ) ... neither fish would keep, but we had confidence in the spot and kept on plugging. A few minutes later, Kaizer sticks our first keeper (16" and skinny) on a carolina rig in 16 FOW... we boat it and are feeling pretty good. kept on fishing with Cranks, Carolina's, jigs, poppers, dropshots.... caught a few slicks and decided we'd better move on and try to find bigger fish. Next stop drew a couple of hits and boated another keeper on a 10" worm (clay bank, 6 FOW close to deep water).... moved to another flat trying CR, CB,Jigs, topwater.... boated a couple slicks and spotted TW emoBigSmile Called him on the cell to see if he could help us emoConfused ... he had a couple keepers.. .said Mendy caught one on second cast... I guess we both had the curse emoGoofy .... we decided to move on down river.... and much to my amazement, there were folks doing the Australian Crawl upstream emoEek ... a couple of folks had kayaks with them, but some were by themselves and not that easy to see... dunno why they scheduled a 3 mile swim meet on one of the busiest days on the river emoConfused ... anyway, we picked up another fish on a jig and rounded out our limit (of smallies... not brown fish.. just small skinner keepers) .... moved back upstream, stopping at a couple of ledges and picked up a fish or two, and landed a keeper on a CR again ... this culled one... still no real pattern, bite died... moved again, and again.... found some slicks, and culled another... very slow day for keeper fish... we caught 20+ with only 5 keepers and we culled 2 to get a 5.5 weight... that shows the quality of fish we found...lol ... water temps were around 83.... was still a good day to be on the water with my son, gr8 weather, gr8 tourney, and a chance to talk to CFF friends... was a good day emoGeezer

Thx for the tourney !!!

TAz
