I would first like to say that I would have never thought 8.53 would win agianst the fine fishermen and women on this forum.I expected 10 1/2 to 11 lbs.I was suprised and I know everyone else was suprised to see Jeffro and I win also emoLaugh .
PRACTICE-two weeks ago Dec1 and I went out for a few hours one afternoon and he spanked me pretty good with good fish. This was the last time I would be on the lake until the tx.
TOURNAMENT-We launched out and I think half the field ran down river,I was suprised to see no one stopped on the area that we wanted to fish because it is a community hole that usually has its fair share of boats.I wished I could tell you that we whacked them and the day was perfect and rainbows were shooting out of our butts at the end of the day but that wasnt the case.We caught 7 fish all day and only 4 were keepers. We had our limit by 9:30 and caught another keeper 30 minutes later. We went from 10 to the end of the tx without another fish. All fish were caught on a creek ledge in 18ft of water on crankbaits.
WINNING GEAR-7ft NUCLEAR GLASS CRANKIN ROD.10 and 12 lb 100% trilene flouro line.New DT20 RAPALA crankbait in shad w/green back and lime colors.
We used the "kneel and reel" technique that produced every bite. After a couple of hours we were just bending over instead of kneeling because we were so tired emoLaugh .Big thanks to everyone involved in the tx .I know its hard work and you deserve a pat on the back.
