Willard good company on the 24th
#1
Had a great day fishing today,Met up with Old Coot at the south marina at 6:00 am and headed for the area I had luck at last weekend and started trolling,Shortly after Holly and Grzbear and Mrs Grzbear Pulled up and we all trolled and trolled and trolled,Etc. well the catching turned out not to be to good today but we gave it a good shot. My take for the day was two wipers and a catfish,Coot got one wiper,he left at eleven.
Holly,Grzbear and me and lunkerhunter2 went back to the spot we did catch fish and gave it another go.
Everyone but me had enough and took of around 1:00 I went back out and search the lake, tried different spots but couldn't find a better bite. Left at 4:00 PM So Holly your not bad luck it just plan sucked today[Image: bobwink.gif]

Thanks to all of you that joined me today,I really enjoyed all of your company.

Talked to a young man that helped with netting the past week he says all the shad are in the middle of the lake they caught no shad in either of the marina's and he said there are two size classes, one at two inches and another about 3/4 of an inch and smaller. He was talking with a gentelman that is on BFT but I can't remeber his name.Sorry.
The wipers have plenty to eat right now,I think I will wait a few weeks or until they start boiling.Good luck to anyone that goes out this weekend.
By the way all the terns and seagulls where not hitting anything on the surface, they where flying around but didn't see any of them feeding?[:/]
I sucked bad today. [Wink] dang wipers!!!![:p]

Thats weird becuase it wasn't all that rough out there today and it was coming out of the water,it could use another foot at least in my opinion.

yea we were thinking 52" is what we need. Plus we think its not mounted far enough to the front of the boat because it hits the bow when he pulls it up [crazy]

Thanks FNF for the ride today. It was relaxing to not have to drive for a change. Just enough breeze to keep away any bugs but not so much to start white caps. Overcast to go easy on the sun burn.

Lots of trolling and looking for a chance to get in on a boil but it was not to be. I think it is like this every year at this time ... slow. Couple 3 weeks and it should be back on.

Good to meet you too Lunkerhunter2.

Any time Old coot,
If your right I will see you in three weeks give or take. [fishin]

I still think we might have done better if we would have found a bigger school of fish, but who know's the way things where going we may have not found any better catching.

I don't feel so bad about my lack of success now that I'm hearing no one was doing to well. On the 24th We trolled for about three hours on the north end with out a single hit!! I would have stuck it out longer but I had my two young nephews with me that we starting to lose patience.

I have never fished on the south end, I was thinking about trying that out next time. Does the south side typically fish better than the north end? Also, does anyone have any tips for catfish at Willard? I have caught a few here and there with a worm on the bottom but never knocked em dead. Thanks.

Right now is real tough for sure,Here I thought I had them figured out at least where they where and I had 5 people counting on me to get them into some fish,at least they didn't get skunked at least most of them anyway, sorry Holly [:p].
Some friends where out off the north dike yesterday and got five to the boat out by the light pole said they where pretty close to the dike.I would have started casting to the dike but they just trolled back and fourth.

Can't help you with the cats sorry.

[cool][#0000ff]I fish out of the south marina a lot, in my tube. I almost always catch lots of kitties along the dike on either side of the feed lot...to the north of the marina entrance. Drift (slowly) or anchor and then move to find fish. Worms will work but minnows, carp meat or even pieces of hot dog will probably outproduce worms on most trips.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Last week we caught bunches of cats in water from 11 to 13 feet deep. But, they can also be caught in close to the rocks on bait under a bobber. Also a lot of bluegills in close to the rocks.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]That is also a good area to watch for boils when the wipers are on the prowl. Keep a rod rigged with a Kastmaster or topwater lure. A small pearl colored plastic works well too.[/#0000ff]
