Went to the lake after work and got in the water about 3:45. Left the dam and ran up to the "islands" because a buddy of mine won a TX in there last week and told me they were on fire. emoCool Must be an evening pattern because after 2 hours of trolling around chunking a spinnerbait and jig I had 7 fish with only one keeper that might have been 2lbs. at the most emoScratch. Its possible the word got out sooner and they've been beat to DEATH all week. I left from there and hit an old roadbed outside the islands and fished the football jig on a brushpile I saw a few trips back. Third cast I was draggin it off the slope and it got mushy emoScratch. The difference was it didn't feel like the grass I had been getting stuck in and it was chewing on the jig emoEek. I set the hook and nothing moved for a second and a REALLY nice fish came up and started moon walkin for me. I tried to keep her down but all she wanted to do was jump and after all the commotion I got down in the boat to land her and she dove one more time and guess what? emoMad I can't believe after all that jumping it stayed hooked and only one hard pull the jig just fell out emoBadLanguage. After that I didn't even get a love tap there so went back to lower end and waxed some schoolers with a spinnerbait until dark. Good numbers day again and my best five Im guessing between 13 and 15 lbs. Weather was great and water temp was 80deg. All fish were caught on spinnerbait and football jig in 7 to 14 fow. emoBig
