Alvin and I hit the Riverpark today to see if the fall topwater bite has started with the temperatues cooling. I will say it is well on its way. We started the day fishing a 6 ft deep hump in the middle of the river that typically has schoolers on it every morning in the fall. Not much schooling but the LM were there. We boated one on a spinnerbait and two more on Sammy's and I lost one around 2.5-3 lbs on a Sammy. One of the 3 was a keeper.
We then ran down river and fished around the pillings downtown. Around is not exactly accurate as all the fish we caught but one were out in the middle at ranon. We boated 12 more bass and lost a few all on Sammys. I got a nice 2.5 lb LM and Alvin lost a LM that might have kept. I had one that was the same size as the Sammy. Pretty funny.
Ended the day jigging spoons/silver buddies in one of the deep holes up by the Riverpark. Got a little spot, a small channel cat, a drum and a little bluegill for our efforts.
Not bad for Sept and having not fished down there since May.
