What a day!!! Rain finally lifted and got to the spot about 10:30 this am. Start out fishing on bottom with large shiners just to see if we could get anything. After catching a few blue cats and a chunker largemouth, a couple of the shiners were tossed off our lines. We watched as the damaged bait swam slowly at the top of the water, and would comment on how long before something gobbled them up. Well after watching about 3 shiners get destroyed at the top, I turned to the guys and said, im gonna catch some bass. Took my weight off, through on a shiner, and freelined him to my personal best smallmouth......5lbs even. This fish was one of the best fights in my life. I had left all my tackle at a friends house and was using some $14.99 Hardess won, Zebco 33 Classics(I cant even speak to how cheap these are), but to my surprise they held up to all the fish we caught. After my long fight with the smallie, there weights were off there line lickity split. We pulled in bass after bass after bass. Jason caught his first smallmouth ever at 4.5lbs. The smallest bass caught was a smallmouth by Greg at only 1lb. We pretty muched weighed all the bass we caught because I was testing my judging skills on wait, and to my surprise I was dead on. I would say the average size bass we caught was between 2.5-3lbs, and I must say this was on of the best days fishing I have ever had. Boated about 25 fish and missed what could have been a bigger smallie than my PB. I will have more pics up soon of the rest of the fish ,but here's my smallie!!!! Water was murky, fish seemed suspended about 5-7 feet from surface, low current, low winds, overcast.

P.S. Had to stop because we ran out of bait, and we work 3rd shift so we were exhausted.
