what a day for a crappie tournament emoTongue conditions where pretty rugged with the wind howling and the waves a white capn' . i didn't think we had much of a chance at getting in the money today. for the past 2 weeks i haven't had a chance to get out there and find out what the crappie were doing but william and i gave a shot anyway.

we tried to get up north of possum creek to some more familiar water but only made it as far as the community dock just downstream of the nuke emoTongue after a pass with the side imager to see where they were old faithful paid off with a 7 fish limit and culling up by 8:30 emoEek
hey i was actually starting to feel good about a win at this point with most fish coming on a 6 count on a 1/16oz and a blue/pearl BG shad but it was tough holding in the right place even with an anchor
holding the back end in place as the wind was blowing us right into the dock. by 9am or so they slowed way down there so we headed up to a few more main lake docks that didn't seem to have anything hungry on them.

tried to go up to possum creek but that old bullet aint so good in rough water so soddy creek started looking like a real good place to try and hide from the wind. made it to the bridge where the side imager showed a HUGE school wrapped around one of the pilings emoParty even though the wind was nearly as brutal there as on the main lake we fished it anyway. we picked off lots of 10-1/2 to 11 inch fish but nothing to cull up with until i tried a white ringer stinger with a tail light . counted down to 20 and and started a very slow retrieve and was rewarded with a nice 14" kicker of a slab. jr switched to the same lure and found his PB and another HOF crappie at 13-3/4 for our 2nd kicker fish emoParty now we are both feeling good about both a win and big fish emoBig
we still had some time so we hit a marina with nothing to show but a couple of bluegill.

the ride back to hbsp from soddy was a a LOT rougher than the trip up river ( my kindeys and back are still complaining) .

even though we had a great bag at 7lbs 14oz and a 1-1/2 lb big fish dixie boy had us all beat with a huge 10lb + sack congrats to him on big fish too with a nice 1-3/4 lb fish

soddy blue came in second and wiliam and i rounded out the money spots in 3rd which is the best we have ever placed in a tourney emoDance

thanks to scott for putting this on and i hope those kids enjoy the toys that were collected.

it was also great to get meet some new faces and see some familiar ones again hopefully jr and i can make the next one
