My Dad and I fished the Crappie tournament this morning. It was cold and windy all morning long with the wind slowly increasing all day long. The tournament began at 7:30 and ended at 12:30. We fished 4 different spots and rotated back and forth catching fish each time we hit the areas. We fished two bluffs and two docks. We started out on one of the bluffs that had held big fish for me last week but only 10 inch fish were there today. We then hit an old reliable dock that held fish but not the big ones that had been there last week either. We hit another bluff that is usually a winter time spot and caught a couple keepers there too. Ran to another dock and it had a fair fish on it but about every other cast, or more the jig would jump up over a bar under the dock and get hung there. I must have lost 10-15 jigs there before I finally decided that the big fish that had been there had gone. We never ended up going back there but maybe we should have. Most fish were at about a 12 count wherever we went except on one dock where there is shallow brush. At that dock we could only let the jig drop for a 2 count max before getting snagged. We mostly used Panfish Assassins and BG shads. On the docks we used 1/32 oz heads but on the bluffs, in the wind we had to go up to 1/16 ozers to be able to get down. I was surprised that we ended up with about a 1lb per fish average as I didn't think that we had one fish over 12 inches, We had close to 40 keepers, just not the size we needed. Never the less it was great to be out there and lots of fun talking with you guys before and after the fishing. Thanks for the fun tournament Scott.
