Had made plans to fish today is it was the 3rd day in a row of nice warm temps.
Got a call from my friends to go fishing. I launched out of.... my car - lol and hit the water. Today as usual I used my hand tied 32 oz jigs and my friends used minnows. Mike dabbled off and on with other jigs, his best 2 keepers about 12 in each were caught using a 32 oz minnow head jig and a chartreuse bass assassin body. The Crappie bite was off and on with single bites as well as flurries as small schools cruised around. We caught Blacknose and White crappie at mainly 7-8 ft depth, but at times we caught them shallower too.
My biggest Crappie is also now my personal best - HOF White Crappie, 16 in / weighing 2.8 lbs. All total we caught between 40 - 50 crappie with only about 12 keepers. Not to bad for shore fishing I guess.
The catfish were caught using various baits. The best bite came on hotdogs and next was of all things - white cheese and bologna. (My friends will use anything to catch fish, even a kitchen sink if they could cast one. :-)!!!!!!!! 3 cats total were caught. One very big fish broke off on Linda. Biggest was as a Common Carp - also known as a Norris reservoir Carp. It weighed 7.15 lbs and a channel cat weighing 6.4 lbs. The other 2 weren't big enough to consider weighing.
It was a very nice day today and everyone had a great time.
