What a beautiful day, emoThumbsup emoCool I think I did more enjoying the scenery and the weather than fishing, at least serious fishing anyway, emoTongue Started out from CFP about 7 to find some crappie but the crappie had other ideas during the early part of the morning, emoScratch While looking for the crappie I did manage 4 bream then 4 bass, a couple were nice ones, emoThumbsup 'till the crappie finally showed up about 8:30. I ended the day with 27 crappie, 6 'gills, and 4 bass. Most of the crappie came after 10:30 and off blow downs, emoSmile That bigger bass was interesting, when first hooked I thought I was just hung on a rock but after a couple hard pulls it moved then I thought it was a cat but he finally came up and made one jump, kinda half hearted then came right to the boat and the net, emoScratch Guess you just never know how they will react to being hooked. That was on 4 lb line and a 1/16th jig. Of course my scales had been in my tackle bag for a couple months without being used and when I tried to weigh the bass, wouldn't you know, the batteries were dead and it wouldn't work, emoAngry
It was nice to see Dragfish and his buddy, John and wish I had kept more of the nicer crappie to give them but had thrown some 13's back before they showed up. Also talked with Kingfish while fishing some blow downs and as soon as he left the bite really picked up, emoScratch Maybe Bob brought me some luck, emoSmile
I got about 20 pictures of some 4 deer eating acorns right close to the waters edge but my little fishing camera doesn't do a great job at 30 yards, the telephoto lens do not do the subject justice, emoRolleyes There was 2 bucks, a 4 point and an 8 point, (Yes deer hunters, a nice 8 point) and 2 little does. Not a bit scared, wonder why, maybe 'cause they were at the Nuke site woods, emoThumbsup
They know when the're safe, emoLaugh
All in all it was a great day but I really didn't want to leave at 1:00 but I had about 2 eighteen wheeler loads of leaves to blow up in a pile and burn so just couldn't stay any longer. Got the leaves done so maybe I can squeeze out another fishing trip next Friday, emoThumbsup emoSmile
All the fish were returned to grow bigger and pull harder, emoFish
Water temp was 59* and almost no wind with clear skies all day. Current seemed to come and go, sometimes heavy and then almost none so don't know how much they were pulling but it wasn't steady today, Best jig of the day was a white salty tube with silver specks and a tail light. I tried others but they seemed to want that over the blow downs. In deeper water it was BG silver sparkle shad on a 1/16th.
