The three guys from VA wanted to go one more time on the Chick before heading out at 11:30 this morning. They had to pack up and load up so we met at 7:30 at the Wolftever ramp.
By the time we got the boats in the water and to the first spot it was already 8. Started chunking traps and looking for schoolers. Not too long before a nice 2 and a halfer nailed my trap. Then two more nailed the following boat. emoThumbsup They were there in the area but very spottie. They would only bust one or two shad and back down they went. emoAngry Could not get to them fast enough. Between spooks, traps and buzz baits we put nine in the boat in about an hour and a half. I had promised one of them before they left I would let them try drop shotting again. We sped off to one of my drop shot ledges and started on the top edges. Right off I have a nice one on a four inch worm in 18 feet. Then loose one coming up, then catch another. They all converge on me and look over what I am using. We start up again and the guy in my boat hooks up. Two or three turns and it come off. emoDoh Next one hit mine again and up comes a nice 2.5 lber again. emoRedface I kind of felt bad,...I was taking them and catching all the fish. My partner hooks up again and again it come off. Then they stop hitting. About thirty minutes goes by and finally another hits mine. Up come another slick LM. Move one more time and only find one slick spot there. By this time it is eleven and they had to get started back. 13 more bass in the boat. Not too bad for a glassed over lake and not much happening. Our best five keepers (Had seven) would have hit 13 lbs today anchored by a 4 and a quarter lber that nailed my trap. emoRedface In all they had 86 bass come in the two boats in three and a half days. Had two over four and probably about seven or eight solid three lbers. They were happy with the success and said the weather was great down here with our trees looking so pretty with all the color.

They stayed at Island Cove and said their rooms were first class and the best they have ever stayed in for all the times they travel and fish. They ate at Fox Kay and said the food was great. I believe they said it was only $65.00 a night which they thought for on the lake was very cheap. Boats could be charged outside the rooms. The folks at the marina said the off season had started so it was greatly reduced. One of them told me if he lived here he would never get anything done with all the lakes and as great as the area around us is. I think we sometimes take it for granted.

They also took a bunch of pictures and said they would send them to me. I will try and post them if I can when I get them. emoBig

Time to go smoke pole hunting. emoTongue Jmax
