I had the honor of introducing one of our TWRA commissioners to dock shooting/crappie fishing this morning. We only had about 4 hours to fish, but we had a great time. We landed 22 crappie and 14 of them 11" or more went home with Chink for dinner. A few bluegills and a couple of small bass tried to commit suicide, but we wouldn't let them. There was a gentle breeze, not too bad, but the current was whipping down the river. TVA is supposed to average 63,000 cfs today. That water was moving on.

We caught a few of our fish on docks and the rest on blowdowns. Largest fish was a chunky 13 inch fish. Chink picked up the shooting technique right off the bat. (No RSimms casts). emoPoke emoBig
Sorry, Richard. Just couldn't resist the urge. emoBig
We needed the fish to be more active than they were for him to get a good feel for the bite. Chink is a good sportsman and landed a few which is great. I told him that many folks that I take out for the first time don't catch very many.

Bobby Garland shads in various colors was the lure of choice. I think that I only caught one on a stubby butt. I met and saw more people that knew me from my pics on the forum than I have ever had in one day before. Met Hal's friend from middle Tennessee and his buddy. They had a few fish. Saw EPaul and took a pic with his TARP crappie for the forum. A couple more boats of guys who were fishing spoke to us for a few minutes.

We had to quit at 12:00 today. I have appt. this afternoon. Rain tomorrow, so no fishing for me. Then I'll be fishing the rest of the week with new guys. I'm really looking forward to meeting and fishing them. emoBig
