Put in at safe light and started on bluffs until fog lifted. Caught several nice largemouths on a Sammy on bluffs with deep slopes (45%&#43
sitting in 17ft.+ and dog walking the lure on a stop and start broken cadence. Had one over 5 and a few over 3. Found a nice chunky smallie on almost every point (Red buoy side of lake) until no longer overcast, but no keeper smallies. (See pic attached) Started checking out pockets and determined that the keepers were not in the back of the pockets and went back to the river. Started catching keepers at mouths of pockets where there was a funnel effect, in other words the opening of the pockets were not wide, rather there were points or bars that created a narrow channel opening to the pockets, thus concentrating access to the bait. A pointer 100 jerkbait worked well when the bait was balled up as well as a heaver lipless crankbait such as a 5/8 oz. Spro Aruku shad. Ended up with about 35 fish and only about 6 or 7 that didn't measure.
