After becoming deathly sick-feeling about midway through the 3rd qtr of the U of M / OSU game, I decided I would much rather be fishin than watching the continued collapse of my beloved wolverines...<br /><br />Got the boat put-in at about 3 pm and headed to a favorite old spot along the main channel to see if any Sauger still existed in the Hiwassee...Bounced heavy jig off the bottom for about 10 minutes when I received the classic &quot;wet-toilet paper feel&quot; in the rod-I set the hook hard and figured out VERY QUICKLY that I had not hooked a Sauger!<br /><br />Long story short: Still no Sauger, but I can definitely see why guys get so excited about the prospect of large cats...this was BY FAR one of the best fights I have EVER had (and by FAR my personal biggest freshwater fish). I plan on trying to learn more about/targeting this species!...
