I am just wondering if anyone has caught any catfish at mud lake in the last 2 or 3 years. I'm thinking about going ice fishing out there and haven't been in a while. I usually target perch out there but would love to try for cats if there is a reasonable chance of catching any.

Mud Lake is hot for cats. I drilled a hole and netted 33 of them yesterday.

Were they bull heads or channel cats? Ron

They are cats. Usually on the move and hard to bait fish for during the daytime. What was the bait that worked so well. I'm assuming when you say net you mean on a rod and reel?
Thanks for the report and any help you can give on catching them!

Got my hopes up there were actually fish in Mud Lake. I have only heard of one person when I was at Sportsman's saying they have caught anything there this winter.

I told my wife about your first post and she said you're lying. Turns out, she was right. You had me going for a bit.

Thanks for everyones input. I think I might still know a good place for perch at Mud Lake that people don't fish too often.

Is that legal? [img]"]http://www.bigfishtackle.com/...m/confused.gif[/img] . . . or are we talking morts?
Here in Idaho you can use a fresh caught trout or any other game fish for bait. That fish has to be included in your possession limit. And you also have to comply with the take on that body of water. So lets say you catch a trout in a area that has no harvest it is catch and release only. You can NOT use a wild trout for cut bait. You can bring one with you though (mort). Ron

I knew there was a reason we bought morts for sturgies in the canyon. We go through a lot more than 6 per person so that would make sense.
