Last night Bprice and I 
dled up once again for a night ride catfish foray, again taking another catfish virgin with us. Jason decided he had enough crazy in him to hop in the boat with us in sub freezing temps to see if he could get his hands on a daddy. The night started off with a couple of big disappointments; one, there were no skips to be found so we were stuck with frozen bait, and two, we were bearing witness to a local gizzard shad die off which we thought would kill the BIG BITE. The first spot was fruitless so after a 20minute stint we moved. After resetting the anchor a couple times on spot number two we finally got all the baits out and waited for about 10 minutes before a rod went down. We let Jason call dibs on the hook-up. He did a fine job of battling the fish to the side of a boat, making any catter proud much less a rookie. At first we thought it was just a “decent†fish but then it decided to keep heading up stream and started to dig, and dig. Finally Jason got its head turned and we knew it was going to be a “good†fish. We HIGHLY underestimated! Not only was this his personal best but it was also a boat PB too. She we’d a few ounces over 86 pounds!!!!!!!!!!! <br /><br />Meanwhile with the chaos at the back of the boat we had forgotten about the other rods………and when we looked up rod #2 was bowed over…………..to the helm I jumped and thought I had a 40 pounder……………NOPE ………..It was a 24 pound striper! ON A SKIPJACK HEAD! After high fives were given, pics, and weights taken we let’em swim. <br /><br />Oh, and Bprice caught an “eater†weighing 40 pounds………… (JK, CPR’d too LOL) Water temp 38 degrees, Air temp 21 degrees So in six days the score evens out like this in my boat: 1 PB Sauger 2 PB Blue cats (one being a boat best) 1 PB Striper (boat best too) <br /><br />Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWsYPXVhGo0<br />
