[cool]Fished Hemenway pier after work today. Was going to take the tube out but the wind and rain was raging too much. I tossed for a couple hours before finally connecting on my first and only strike. I stuck a 5lber on a 6" storm swimbait. Stayed til the sun went down and called it a day. Nice not to get the skunk again. There was a 9-10" trout in his belly.

That is a nice fat fish. It's good to see them getting fat again down there.

Regarding that particular lure, you aren't kidding...hard to find these days. You can by some very similar from Basspro...or straight from Storm...but I'm not seeing anything exactly like it on most of the sites I'm checking.

The last time I saw these was at Sports Authority about 2 yrs ago, and I picked up a dozen or so...fortunately.

If you happen to find them, please post.

[cool]These were the first swimbaits that I started to use and they still catch fish. I've got about four left and they are at least 4-5 years old. I'm going to have my buddy in california look for some.

I've always done well with those swimbaits. I seem to have lost my last one recently...

Storm changed their line-up of colors with these baits-
[Image: wildeye_swim_shad56_mu.jpg]
MU - Mullet
[Image: wildeye_swim_shad56_prl.jpg]
PRL - Pearl
[Image: wildeye_swim_shad56_bnk.jpg]
BNK - Bunker
[Image: wildeye_swim_shad56_sd.jpg]
SD - Shad

SHCS - Shiner Chartreuse Silver

GMU - Golden Mullet
No more subtle rainbow trout patterns for the 5 and 6 inch versions of these.

They do have a few newer baits that might be of interest though.

WildEye Live Rainbow Trout
They only come in 2" 3" and 4" though. I'd like to see some bigger models.

These are pretty sweet-

5 "-- 1/2 oz.

6 "--5/8 oz.

WildEye Live Stocker Trout

these come in 4"

PPHT - Pearl Phantom
[Image: wildeye_rippin_swim_shad_rt.jpg]
RT - Rainbow Trout
[Image: wildeye_rippin_swim_shad_sd.jpg]
SD - Shad

That rainbow pattern is more like the old school swimbait

I think ill try out that stocker trout.

[cool]Worth a try. Even the 4" models will get big stripers. To them if it looks like a trout and swims like a trout, it must be a trout. As long as it swims close by them. I would remove the lower treble hook on the 5" and 6" stocker trout models though. You can hook them solid with just the upper single. They tend to swallow the whole thing anyways.

Great visual post Whizzle.

I think the beach will be attacked this weekend by my arsenal of trout replicates. Along with the LA slider from the mega bait site that Big E suggested.
