Got on the water today at about 11:00 and fished until 4:30. Wind gusting from the Southeast at 11-18mph, overcast, water temp from 47-51 degrees, water clarity not too muddy for a very windy day. We launched from mid lake and did a bunch of moving around to look at some different areas and to stay out of the wind. We mostly looked around to find some remnants of last year's grass which was not very hard to find , but the fish were tough to find for us in the beginning. Started by fishing old grass flats just off main channel, then tried a few shallow points that were close to deep water that still had a little grass left right on the bottom. Nothing much other than a couple of slicks and a few that came unbuttoned. We started looking at map and found a series of shallow coves that were nearby deeper water and they had a few small humps scattered throughout them. We started catching a few numbers in the first one but still no keepers. I concentrated on the humps in the beginning then decided to beat the bank and started to produce some keeper fish with the biggest being this fish caught by Josh. We did not weigh, but probably weighs 3.5-4.0lbs, and 12 total for the day. All fish caught on XR50 with Royal shad and natural colors working best for us today. We also caught a couple on tube baits while fishing a riprap/grass bank. This was really the first time I have fished here this year aside from the ice fishing a few weeks ago, so the numbers were not that bad. Next time I hope to target some quality fish. :emoticon:logo
