Alabama conservation board to meet March 13

The Alabama Conservation Advisory Board will meet Saturday, March 13 at the Elliott Community Center, 2829 W. Meighan Blvd., in Gadsden, Ala. This is the second scheduled meeting of the Advisory Board in 2010. Registration for those wishing to address the board will be from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. The meeting will begin promptly at 9 a.m.

If you are interested in submitting information to the Advisory Board prior to the meeting please send it to the ADCNR Commissioner's Office at 64 N Union St., Montgomery, Alabama, 36130. If you wish to present information during the meeting please provide the board with 20-copies of the presentation during the registration period prior to the start of the meeting.

The Conservation Advisory Board assists and advises on matters relating to the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources including hunting seasons and bag limits. The Board is composed of 10 members appointed by the governor for alternating terms of six years, and three ex-officio members in the persons of the Governor, the Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, and the Director of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. The Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources serves as the ex-officio secretary of the Board.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama's natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
