After being skunked the last couple of trips, today was a pretty good day. Caught 4 keepers with the largest weighing 5 lbs even. The smallest of the other 3 was 17 1/4" but I did not weigh. Put the big one in the livewell in hopes of talking the wife into bringing a camera to the dock, but the fish acted funny. I thought it was going to die, so I pulled it out and worked with it at the side of the boat and she swam off. I didn't see her floating over the next couple of hours, so I think she was ok. Caught a 3 or 4 more small fish, 2 crappie and 2 little stripe. All fish were caught on a Silver Buddy with water temps between 39 and 41. Fish were caught in 13-17' of water. Tried grubs, SB, jerkbait and lipless cb with no luck. Big fish was UGLY!! Pale looking with dark splotches all over her. I've caught a couple that looked that way before. Anyone know what causes this?
