theweekender, Tims Ford, Crappie, 1 Smallmouth, 2/27/10

Thought I would give crappie a try today on Tims even though the water is still a little cool. Marked several fish over fallen trees and beds and caught a few small fish. Water temperature was 43. Did hook up on a nice smallmouth on float and fly (see pic below). I decided to hunt warmer water and it paid off well. Found water over 45 and must have caught 35 crappie on sunken beds. Only 3 keepers though. They will see me another day. The wind was bitter and gusting up to 10 or so. You really had to pay attention as most strikes we very weak. Crappie action should be hot in a week or so. See you on the water.

Tight lines! emoAngler
