We put in at Chester Frost Park about noon to try for some crappie, emoSmile It was cool but a beautiful, sunny day on the lake with a little wind, more than a little at times, emoRolleyes We hit a few docks and some brush which was in shallow water for a couple hours before we even got a sniff, emoScratch Finally found a few keepers in 20 FOW on a 10 count with pan fish assassins in crystal shad with a red tail. That only lasted about 45 minutes and they just shut off and we couldn't find 'em, emoScratch Moved on to some bluffs where we got a couple hits but not even sure they were crappie, just couldn't hook 'em, emoConfused Since it was getting late, after 4:30 we decided to run down to Wolftever and give the brush off the banks a try. Took a while to find 'em but ended the day with 28 crappie, 3 'gills, and 3 yellow bass, emoThumbsup Our crappie minimum today was 10 & a half, (Truett needed fish for the freezer, he was out) so we ended up keeping 20 between 10 & 1/2" and 13 & 3/4 which was the best fish of the day, emoThumbsup I did catch a 11" large mouth, emoTongue The fish at the end of the day were in 5 FOW and caught on a 4 count with 1/32nd crystal shad with a red tail light, emoThumbsup Really enjoyed the day and it did warm up later in the afternoon but was beginning to cool off by the time we quit and headed for the trailer about 6:30. Water temp was 43* - 47* in different places, but 43*-44* in the river.
