Doug met me at Harrison Bay @ 12:00pm to see if I could put him on some good crappie fishing. emoScratch When he got in my pontoon boat I told him that we going to fish in places that I've never fish before. (I said that if they wasn't on the screen, we wasn't going to fish them) emoBang We went farther north than I've fished in a long time. I was determined to find some new fish or run a tank of gas out, which ever came first. emoBang We went into a place and I drove around for about 45 minutes just looking at the GPS and fish graph with very little results. We went over this place and I said, hurry Doug, look at the screen, and I turned off the motor. I said, rather you believe it or not, those two big christmas tree looking things are crappie, and they were emoBig
I dropped two anchors because we wasn't going anywhere for a while. Dougs second cast was a good keeper and it just got better. We sat there for a little over an hour and caught 35 crappie, two white bass and three golden shiners. Most all of the crappie were keepers, Doug didn't want any but I kept 18 and took home with me. I called the wife and had her to call my daughter to invite her family up for a crappie fry emoHungry I don't know when I tasted sweeter crappie. emoDance I enjoyed finding them as much as catching them.
The boat was sitting in 20 feet of water and the crappie were all around 12 feet (there were two huge bunches of them about 20 yards apart) water temp. was only 46 and the fish shut off as fast as they started (but they are still there and stacked tight) all fish were caught between a 5 and 10 count.
I caught most all of my fish on a BG and Doug caught most of his on a tube. I needed this trip emoDance and it was fine. emoFish emoAngler emoFish
