My grand daughter from Louisiana has moved to Tennessee and wanted me to take her fishing. She had never been fishing before. So, I took her to the Riverpark this AM for 1.5 hours of fishing. The rain ran us off the water. Lying weather man. Rain wasn't supposed to be here until after noon.

So, we motored up to the wingwall and as I was showing her how to cast a spinning reel, I made the cast, and immediately hooked up with a 16.5 inch Rockfish and handed the rod to Tiffy. She had fun reeling this one in. Wished that I had a camcorder on this one. She was holding the rod down at the end and the fish was giving her all that she wanted in that current. We managed to get it to net and then we started drifting the current line and I was catching most of the fish.

After showing Tiffy how to hold the rod properly, she had just a little bit of trouble casting for a few minutes. Finally she began to get the hang of it and then the rains came. We had on rainsuits, and if it had just been a light rain, we would have fished for just a little while longer, but it started raining pretty hard and we decided to quit. I was getting ready to put my rod up when she yelled that she had one. A nice white bass that she hooked herself, and played it to the end of the rod. Only left about 6" of line out from the end of the rod and jerked that sucker in the boat. (I still have a few lessons to teach her) emoBig
We fished a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes.

I brought home about 6 big white bass, 2 spots and the rockfish that Tiffy caught. She wants to go again and I don't blame her. We will get out maybe next week. The biggest white bass weighed 2 lb 9 oz and another was 2 lb 4 oz and the other 3 or 4 that I kept were pushing 2 pounds. We released 4 other smaller whites. We didn't take many pics because of the rain. It had stopped raining by the time we got home. emoBang emoBig
