Put in at CFP about 11:30. I usually don't fish on the weekends but missed Wed so had to do a makeup day, lol. Lot was crowded, but no waiting to launch. This was a tough fishing day, the wind was brutal and made fishing impossible in a lot of places and just very hard in others.

I had been marking a lot of schools of fish on the structure scan the last couple of weeks with mixed results. Sometimes can not get a hit. Today I got 2 different schools going in the mouth of spawning bays. Both were small males and didn't get a good fish from either bunch.

Fished 2 docks that were a little out of the wind in the mouth of bays, and found fish on both of them. Even there I had a lot of missed fish as the swirling wind made it hard to see or feel a bite. Both docks were in 18-20' of water and temps were 53-55 degrees. I used a variety of baits, most on 1/32 jigs, but a couple on 1/16th. BG Shad in bluegrass, chartruse slab slayer, PA's in a couple of colors, and yellow tube. All with chartuse tail lights. Count seemed best at 6 and managed 19 good solid keepers from 11-13", also had 6-7 smalls. Tried back in some of the spawning areas and the fish are just not there yet. The temp drops and rain probably set them back a bit. All fish returned.

I will offer my opinion the we might consider returning all the big females with eggs until the spawn is done. Just my thought, I actually think we should return all the large fish and just weigh and take a picture, but some anglers like to share their fishing prowess with friends and family. Everybody has to do their own thing.

Regards, Labman
