Well, we got to the ramp a little later than we wanted too. Started fishing this AM around 8.
Started around the mid part of the lake. No activity for the first half hour. But then I caught 8 fish in just 20 minutes. Colby was wondering what was going on LOL. He switched to the worm I was throwing and started getting bites as well.
We reached to our 10th fish of the day. I get the next bite... set the hook, whatever this fish was started pulling out drag really hard. Never felt the fish shake his head once, so I know it wasnt just a 3lb spot messing with me. The fish pulled about 15 yards of line off my spool then I tried pulling him up a little, but could not do it! It sure was a heavy fish. It decided to make another hard run pulling out my 8lb flouro fast and thats when the line snaps emoDoh emoBang
Whatever the fish was it was HUGE. I have caught some big largemouth over 8lbs before, but Ive never fought a fish as strong as this one except for catfish. Im sure it wasnt a catfish as it didnt fight like one. I really cant tell if it was a bass, but it more than likely was a HUGE spot. emoBawl
Thought about the fish all day, but kept on fishing.
Boated another 7 or 8 bass in the next hour with our biggest going 17.5" with a belly.
Finally headed to Indian creek as our last stop of the day. Colby started throwing my Toad for a minute. Fishing it on the side of a bluff, and a HUGE 6-7lb largemouth came out behind it... Colby stopped the bait and the bass looked at it for a minute and tried to suck it in as Colby twitched it a little. The bass just slowly swam away. emoBang The fish and the boat were only 10FT apart.
If I had caught the big one that broke off early and Colby have caught the big largemouth, we would've had a 20+lb best 5. But our luck was sour on those fish.
Ended the day with 21 spots. Nothing much of size. Great to see some bigger fish moving up, but not great to see them bite and not make it to the boat. It sure will make you sick!
