MrWiskers, Chick, CFF Tourny, 4-10-2010, Jmax "Nacho"
Fished the Chick CFF with Jmax this morning. What a great day weather wise for fishing. We started out fishing the flat I killed them on Sunday. First boat there and after 20 minutes we did not have a single bite. Not good. Ended up getting our first 16" keeper on a 10" worm there and two shorts (one on a Spook, one on tube). That was it, dead as a door nail.
Rode to Wolftever and it was like pea soup with fog. Fished a couple areas and Jmax boated our second keeper, a 12.25" spot on the Spook. It was about this time Jmax started having issues. Seems he ate some Big B's Nachos and Pepper Poppers at Kevin Browns Burgers last night. I decided to be nice and take him back to HBSP (we lauched from there) to resolve his issues.
While in HBSP we got on a good pattern of fishing the boat slips with shakey head worms. Caught our 3rd keeper doing this, another skinny 16" largemouth.
Hit another flat in Harrison Bay and did not produce and finished the day up fishing bluffs. Got a nice 2.25-2.5 lb smallie on the bluff and caught a 1.5 lb spot that culled Jmax's minnow.
We ended the day with 23 bass boated (1 smallie, 6 spots, rest LM) and a real pretty warmouth. We probably hooked and lost another 7-8 but none would have helped any. We had just over 5.5 lbs which put in somewhere in the middle of the 50+ boat pack. Water temps today were between 62.5 and 65 degrees. We caught fish from 2 ft to 15 ft or so. Good day for numbers, just not size. I think 19-20 of our fish came on shakey head worms, one came on a tube, one on a 10" worm and Jmax got his first Spook bass of the year. None of the fish weighted in were caught by Jmax. His rusty streak continues and he was distracted for the first few hours of the morning.emoPoke
