CCSM and I donated to the pot for CFF#3. Last year we made a mistake by fishing shallow early and missing the best bite and this year we did the exact opposite. I had prefished the evening before with Biofisher some areas where the fish had been the week before but the cold front affected the fish and they were gone. We started in foggy WT and caught 4 non keepers in the first 45 minutes. We then fished a deep drop near a spawning slough and there were some bass busting bait from time to time and lots of fish in the water column but no takers. We then fished a steep bank with not takers. I then had my starting battery go bad and so I jumped the motor from my trolling motor battery and went to my dock and switched out the battery, what a pain. Wasted about 45 minutes of prime fishing doing that. We then decided that the fish must be shallow and went to some spawning areas for the last 2 hours of the day. I couldn't believe it. I think that CCSM had a fish on his first cast with plastics to a shallow stump flat. We ended up catching 11 of our 15 fish in shallow stump fields on carolina rigged plastics. We finished the day catching a bunch of fish off an area that I knew would have been crowded in the morning and that's where we caught our only keeper. I have a couple of buddies that are coming to fish Wed. and Thurs. from out of town and I know where we are going to fish. Thanks for the great tournament guys but, couldn't you have gotten at least some of the females to come play in the shallows? Thanks CCSM for the great fun out there and the great fellowship!
