Sorry for the late post I didn't have any time until this morning and I promised to post these pictures. Jay told me last week that he wanted his own bass rod. So we found him a 6' fenwick and shimano reel that fit him and he spent all week in the front yard practicing his casting. We hit the water friday around 5:30 and made a short run up river. He was throwing a little swim worm with a 1/8oz. bullet weight screwed in it. It didn't take him but a minute to put his first bass in the boat all on his own it was a 15" keeper. We moved to a little wind protected pocket so he could cast better and he put his second fish in the boat just a little smaller that the first. He then started talking smack to me that he had caught two fish and still hadn't put one in the boat. It didn't take me long to catch up though. I caught a slick and the next cast I stick a good fish that would have pushed 4.5lbs. I didn't weigh it because by the time Jay took a pic that had me and the fish in it I needed to get her back in the water. Now we were tied up and it was get dark so i had to hurry to beat him. A minute later he had a small fish get off right at the boat and I picked up one more on a buzz bait. I just squeaked out beating a six year old who was fishing on his own for the first time. He had a great time and is now hooked harder than ever he's already to start tournament fishing he said. All fish were caught on swim worms and jigs and one on a buzz bait.
