Started out from CFP about 11:30. I still don't have a trolling motor, for some reason the repair shop waited 10 days before ordering any parts, so the wait goes on. Hoping for the end of the week, maybe.

I had a bit of a frustrating day in that the higher water level requires you to back off the docks a little to get a clear skipping shot to reach back under the dock. Well, you can't hold the boat backed off the dock with no trolling motor. So it was shoot a couple and then reposition. As Hal and DK indicated the fish were holding deep, and I was only able to pickup a couple before they shut off completely. Then I would move and try to fish another dock. Never got a good sustained bite going. Was fishing close to the bottom in15-20' of water and letting jig go to the bottom. BG Shad in Blue Thunder and Bluegrass were the best producers. I ended the day with 17 Crappie with 13 being decent keepers from 11-13+ inches.

I tried one deep structure site, but was not patient enough and was fighting the boat so did not do a good job of fishing it. I probably need some more lessons from DK and Polo on the deep bite. Anyway it was good to get out on the lake with some sunshine and manage to catch a few fish.

Regards, Labman
