Hit the Riverpark this afternoon with Nauticman to show him some spot catching action. My plan was to fish for my pets and get on a good topwater bite but the 1 million cfs flow rate killed that.
We started off fishing the bank I hit this morning and only got a few but did manage a keeper largemouth. So downriver we went. Hit a bank I usually don't fish unless the flow is high and got a few there, also got my first jigging spoon fish of the year, a 6 lb drum.emoScratch
Gave up and hit my pet fish. The current was wild and you had to put the pig n jig right on the bank to get bit which was hard as the water was up in the trees and there was no much bank exposed. Took us forever but we finally got on a good bite on pig n jigs and tubes. I bet we stuck and lost 20-30 bass tonight, they just would not stay buttoned, probably the current but who knows.
Ended the day with 43 spots in the boat, a keeper largemouth, 3 channel cats, 2 drum, 1 redbreast, 3 google eyes and a bluegill. Most fish came on pig n jig and tube but we did manage some on spinnerbaits and I had one massive blow up on topwater. Water temp was around 69.
Thanks for riding with me Nauticman, hope I showed you a few things that you can use later. Not the best guide trip I ever did but we got them in the end.
