I went to Chick yesterday for the first time ever, to practice for a club tournament next week. It was windier than the weatherman predicted (nothing unusual there). First place I go to, 3 casts into the day I catch one about 3lbs on a CB200, talk about a blind squirrel finding a nut!!! Caught another short there and the wind was just too much to deal with. Both in 4' water with grass. Went to some shallow flats and just tore them up, it was the most fun I've had all year!! Caught about 30 bass, only 6 keepers, on that same crankbait in 2-4 ft of water with a mix of hard bottom/grass. I probably could have used a shallower running crank as this one was really digging into the bottom, but the bass didn't mind.

About noontime the wind starting letting up and I went "exploring" looking for mainriver grass or a deepwater pattern but could not find any Sad Does anyone know if there is in fact main river grass right now? I don't want spots, but I'll be back on Friday and don't want to waste time looking for something that might not exist lol. From noon until 4pm I caught 2 shorts and that was it. Even found some good bait on drops in 10-16ft of water but could never get a bite out there. Really wanted to find some main river/deep water haunts incase they pull the plug and drop the water, but never found anything. hopefully next weekend is just as good and this trip wasn't "begginers luck" Smile
